Brian
Mayne outlines the secret of tomorrow’s business success:
The most successful organisations of the 21st century
will be those that are purpose driven and principle led, and which, through
genuine care, develop their people into true leaders.
We live in a rapidly changing business world, where
the only certainty is continuing change. Companies are downsizing,
merging and transforming, new industries are being created, and traditional businesses and working practices are
disappearing.
In these fast-moving times, if any organisation is
to succeed, it must be dynamic, flexible and creative. And a company can
only achieve these qualities if they are also the qualities of the individuals
within it.
Personal leadership is one of the most highly prized attributes - and
yet it is the least taught or consciously developed. The qualities of
a true leader are the qualities of success. They are the qualities that
produce successful teams, successful departments, successful organisations
and successful cultures. Thus true leadership is less about what you do,
and more about 'who you are' in what you do.
In the past, many companies have recognised that positive qualities such
as honesty, integrity, enthusiasm, commitment and self-motivation are
essential elements in building and maintaining a successful organisation.
What is less understood is that these qualities exist – in varying
degrees – in all individuals, and can therefore be enhanced, nurtured
and developed.

“At a time when the organisation
felt challenged, LIFT International created an environment where people
were empowered to achieve their true potential. The culture was changed,
performance improved, and confidence soared”
